What to expect
We want our graduates to be as prepared as possible when they enter the ever-evolving media business. That’s why, at BIMM, we put practical experience right at the heart of our curriculum. Throughout the degree, you’ll dive into contemporary case studies, tackle live industry briefs, and build a portfolio that showcases your unique skill set.
Whether it’s creating a TikTok marketing campaign for an emerging artist, recording your own podcast series, scripting and producing for radio and TV shows, honing your journalistic and investigative skills on the student magazine, or developing your expertise in design and photography – you’ll learn through doing. You’ll also discover how new digital technologies, such as AI, are constantly transforming the global media landscape.
Our cutting-edge teaching spans skill-specific workshops, collaborative projects, industry masterclasses and one-to-one mentoring from media and marketing pros. From your very first day, you’ll be engaging directly with the music industry and carving a space for yourself within it.
Choose your path
Your first year will provide you with a solid foundation in global media, public relations and content production. You’ll discover how audiences think and work, and you’ll acquire the practical skills you need to engage with them effectively.
In your second year, you’ll start forging your own path. With a range of option modules to choose from, you’ll be able to tailor your learning to your interests. For example, you could explore areas such as fandom, celebrity, creative video production, or fashion.
The degree culminates in a Final Project during your third year, where you’ll demonstrate your skills through a media project, entrepreneurial enterprise or research dissertation. You’ll work alongside a specialist in your area of interest, learning from them and making the most of their considerable industry connections.

With numerous placements, internships and paid employment opportunities available across all three years of the degree, you’ll develop essential industry knowledge and workplace skills. Our incredible Creative Futures Team has helped students secure placements at BBC Introducing, Aardman Animation and Sony Music, among others.
The Creative Futures Team offer one-to-one sessions where you’ll receive personalised careers guidance. They’ll also alert you to all the relevant job opportunities and internships that come in from our industry partners.
Students on this course have gone on to work at major record labels – including Sony, Warner and Universal – in various marketing, PR and media roles. Our graduates have also found success at production companies such as the BBC and Channel 4; at festivals like Glastonbury; and at media outlets like Pitchfork and CRACK Magazine.
