Working Men’s Club sign with Melodic Records
BIMM Manchester band Working Men’s Club have had a brilliant start to the year with the announcement that they have signed a record contract with independent label Melodic Records.
The new wave post-punk trio, comprised of 17-year-old singer and guitarist, Sydney Minsky-Sargeant, guitarist-vocalist Giulia Bonometti, 23 and drummer Jake Bogacki, 18, formed in the tail end of 2017 after meeting each other on the Artist Development Diploma in Songwriting, yet they’ve already reached the point most young bands dream of – signing a record deal with a respected record label.

WMC have ticked off some impressive feats on the live circuit too. So far, they’ve supported the likes of Pip Blom, The Wedding Present and The Brian Jonestown Massacre alongside have racked up festival appearances such as Dot To Dot festival, Liverpool Sound City and When In Manchester throughout 2018.
In addition, they’ve garnered support from BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music DJ and presenter Huw Stephens, who also hosted the band’s debut London show at the Social. The band have also received support from Huw’s BBC 6 colleague and all-round radio legend Steve Lamacq, who has been spinning WMC’s latest single ‘Bad Blood’ on repeat lately.
Frontman and vocalist Syd had this to say on what has been a phenomenal 12 months for the band.
“It’s been stressful and a lot of hard work but I think it’s definitely been worth it and a good year. I think we definitely all feel like we’ve accomplished a fair bit in a relatively short space of time. Supporting the Brian Jonestown Massacre was a personal highlight for me. I didn’t believe anything it was going to happen until we were there and then we were and I was like f*** me were actually doing this! It was crazy.”
WMC are hitting the ground running in 2019, with a limited edition 7 inch vinyl pressing of their single ‘Bad Blood’ from Melodic Records among the first actions of the year.
