Sounds of Success: October 2024
We love celebrating the journeys of the BIMM students and graduates making their mark in the music industry.
Our Sounds of Success series highlights and focuses on the achievements of these wonderful people. This month, we’ve seen lots of tours, a David Gray collab, and a Grammy. Wow.
Singer Talia Rae supports David Gray on tour
We’re delighted to tell you that Talia Rae has been featured on David Gray’s latest single, ‘Plus & Minus’. The track will feature on Gray’s upcoming album, set for release on January 17th 2025.
And if releasing a single with David Gray wasn’t enough for Talia, she’s also earned a support slot on his massive upcoming tour. With nineteen shows all around the UK, plus an additional six in Europe, we couldn’t be more excited for her.
Hana Lili embarks on first UK tour
We’re extremely happy for BIMM London graduate Hana Lili, who headed out on her first ever tour this month. Safe to say it was a huge success.
Originally from Wales, Hana has already supported Coldplay, Tom Grennan, and Circa Waves this year, and now she can add her own UK headline tour to the list. The future’s bright for Hana, and we can’t wait to see what’s next for her.
Chiara Ferracuti receives her Grammy certificate
Whilst working as Assistant Engineer at the coveted Church Studios, which is owned by production legend Paul Epworth, Chiara had the chance to work on Arlo Parks’ album Collapsed in Sunbeams. The album ended up winning a Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album. This was back in 2021, but Chiara has just received her certificate, so now it’s official. What an incredible achievement!
Owen Parkhouse’s eventful summer
As a freelancer, Owen Parkhouse has worked at numerous events and festivals this year, including stage managing at Brighton Pride and The Great Escape Festival, crowd management at London Pride, working for VIP Nation at Latitude Festival, backline teching for Brontide at ArcTanGent, and traffic managing at Victorious Festival. What a summer!
The Murder Capital is heading on tour with Nick Cave
BIMM Dublin graduate band The Murder Capital will be joining the legendary Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds on part of the European leg of his upcoming tour. The Wild God Tour will see the group play seven shows in just under two weeks across Europe. This one’s going to be epic!
Fan GRRRLs podcast celebrates fandoms and challenges stereotypes
BIMM Bristol lecturers Jess Dyer and Dani Hewitt are determined to confront stereotypes in the music industry. The Fan GRRRLs Podcast, now in its second season, explores the industry’s long history of marginalising certain fans and challenges the sexist narratives around fangirls.
The podcast discusses the cultural and societal perceptions of women reflected in the term ‘fangirl’ and advocates for safer, more inclusive spaces in the creative industries for both fans and artists.
Louisa Falconer is living her best life
After finishing her Songwriting degree at BIMM Manchester, Louisa secured an internship and then full-time employment as an Agency Assistant with Defected Records in London. Louisa has worked at festivals in Croatia and Malta with Defected, as well as venues like Drumsheds and The Warehouse Project.
On top of this, Louisa still finds time to write and sing, top-lining on dance tracks and working with various DJs. She’s doing what she loves, and we couldn’t be happier for her.
Henry Moodie is currently on a big headline tour
BIMM London Songwriting graduate Henry Moodie is currently smashing his Good Old Days tour.
On the extensive sixteen date tour,Henry has already performed in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, France, Belgium, The Netherlands and England, and his final show will take place in Scotland. This comes after touring alongside notable artists like The Vamps, Mimi Webb, Lauren Spencer Smith, and Busted. Moodie has also signed with Sony Music’s Robots + Humans in the UK and with Columbia Records in the US. He’s definitely one to watch!
