Sounds of Success: March 2025

31 March, 2025

At BIMM Music Institute, we provide a springboard into the music world – and our students, staff, and alumni are out there right now, leaving their mark across all areas of music.

In our Sounds of Success series, we share inspiring stories from our BIMM community, from performances on the world’s biggest stages to nominations for the most prestigious industry awards.

Matteo Tronchin scores The Program

After graduating from Popular Music Performance at BIMM London in 2019, Matteo Tronchin followed his passions in music composition, building an impressive portfolio across film, TV, and video games. His most recent project was composing the score for James Fox’s new feature documentary, The Program

You can watch this powerful documentary on Amazon Prime or Apple TV and stream Matteo’s soundtrack on all major streaming platforms.

Three grads support Myles Smith at The BRITs

Myles Smith’s performance of ‘Stargazing’ and ‘Nice to Meet You’ at the 2025 BRIT Awards was truly sensational. Sharing the spotlight with him were three BIMM graduates: Aaron Forbes on guitar, Stefan Mahendra on backing Vocals, and Daniel Said on drums.

We’re so proud of our Vocals graduate Amy Di Bartolomeo, who has been nominated for an Olivier Award for Best Supporting Actress in the musical The Devil Wears Prada. The awards show takes place at The Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 6 April, so tune in and cheer her on!

OURAA performs backing vocals for JADE

BIMM talent was everywhere at this year’s BRIT Awards. We’d like to congratulate London graduate OURAA (Deborah Osibodu) on her fantastic performance as backing vocalist on JADE’s ‘Angel of my Dreams’.

BIMM Birmingham lecturer speaks on the evolution of jazz

Shivraj Singh Matwala, lecturer at BIMM Birmingham, has chatted with the BBC about the resurgence of jazz music amongst young people. His band Loophole plays in venues all around the city, and they’ve recently been seeing more and more young people attending jazz events. In the article, he says,

“It’s nice to have your music that you play become relevant again, especially music that was considered dead, its resurrection is a testament to how it’s evolving.”

We created Sounds of Success because we love telling you all about these amazing musicians and music professionals who are shaping the industry. Make sure you check back next month, and in the meantime take a look at our Alumni and Student Success page, where we dive a bit deeper and explore how BIMM has helped shape their journeys.
