Platform B host Brighton’s first virtual reality gig
Platform B, a Brighton-based, not-for-profit, youth-led radio station, has been broadcasting online since 2016 and on 105.5 FM and DAB across the city since the 1st October 2018. The station is directed by a new wave of DJs, producers, and presenters re-imagining and diversifying radio with an eclectic mix of music and youth programming.
They’ve teamed with the City’s tech community and a grassroots music venue to create a virtual gig that will feature a range of performances from a host of BIMM Institute Brighton alumni alongside some local Brighton talent. This Arts Council supported project takes place on March 25th at 8 pm.
With the live sector remaining on hold and the pace of reopening uncertain, Platform B has curated this groundbreaking public event in the virtual representation of its real-world home, The Green Door Store. The photorealistic representation of the distinctive, gritty bar and club that we all love so dearly is an environment that perfectly contrasts with the 2D Zoom calls we’ve become familiar with.
Ticket holders will have the chance to create their own personal avatars that can move through the virtual recreation of Green Door Store, meet-up friends, and interact with others in a way that mimics the real world whilst watching spoken word and music performances from five breakthrough artists, including BIMM students and alumni Bklava, Nokia Mansion and KianVsLife, with additional performances from Kymara, Priss Nash and Henna.

This is just the beginning. We can’t wait to extend the concept to bring more live music to music lovers and inspire young creatives with opportunities to perform in a virtual reality and beyond.”
Headlining artist Bklava, added: “I’m excited to be playing and singing all my latest releases for you alongside music from some of my favourite producers right now!”
