Masterclasses at BIMM: Introducing the Legends
Here at BIMM, we often talk about our connections to the music industry and how they make for a truly unique and memorable experience for our students. This concept is expressed best of all when it comes to our Masterclass guests.
Over the years, we’ve had a whole host of musicians visit our BIMM colleges who are of such a high calibre that they can only really be described using one word and one word alone. And that word is: LEGENDS! To prove our point, here are just a few of the exceptional human beings we’ve met, interacted with and learned from.
Nile Rodgers
In March 2017, our BIMM London students were treated to this incredible Masterclass at London’s Bush Hall with Chic guitarist and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Nile Rodgers, along with drummer Ralph Rolle and bassist Jerry Barnes – also legends in their own right!
Nick Mason
In March 2016, drummer and founding member of Pink Floyd, Nick Mason, joined BIMM London for an in-depth Masterclass chatting about the early days of Pink Floyd, his legendary career and offering brilliant music industry advice to our students.
Brian May
They don’t come much bigger than Queen guitar hero, Brian May, who popped in to BIMM Brighton for a highly memorable Masterclass session in August 2015. He chatted to our students about his extraordinary career with Freddie Mercury, Roger Taylor, John Deacon and, more recently, Adam Lambert… and even visited BIMM Bristol the following month too!
Graham Coxon
BIMM Brighton students were thrilled to have Blur guitarist, Graham Coxon, visit them in May 2014 for an exclusive Masterclass, where he discussed his solo work, rivalry with Oasis and even treated the audience to a few tunes on his guitar.
Tony Iommi
Who better to host our new college BIMM Birmingham’s first Masterclass session than local boy Tony Iommi – the lead guitarist and founding member of legendary heavy metal band Black Sabbath. Tony had a Q&A with an audience of very lucky BIMM Birmingham students who started at the college in October.
Chuck D
BIMM Brighton students learned first hand that you should believe the hype surrounding hip-hop icon and Public Enemy rapper, Chuck D, who visited the college in June 2014 along with Brother James of Public Enemy’s famed security team, the S1Ws. The pair hosted a very special Q&A Masterclass ahead of their sold-out show with The Prodigy at the Concorde 2.
The Edge
BIMM Dublin final year students were given a graduation ceremony they’ll never forget when they were joined on the day by U2 guitarist The Edge. He presented them with an inspirational speech offering sage advice and wishing them the best of luck in their future music careers.
So, if you’d like to rub shoulders with the world’s greatest musicians while they visit your classroom, then BIMM is most definitely the place for you… because our Masterclasses are nothing short of legendary!
