Take a virtual tour of BIMM Institute Hamburg
BIMM Institute Hamburg’s students love the college’s high-tech amenities, which enable them to take their music to the next level. Now, you too can experience the professional music facilities in all their glory, thanks to our new virtual college tour video.
BIMM Institute Hamburg Songwriting student, Colleen Livingston, acts as your tour guide in the video. Take a look around:
Colleen takes us on a tour of the ultra-modern campus, explaining how she has been using the space and industry-standard equipment as a student. She guides you through the instrument room, where students practice and attend classes; the lecture room, (which hosts all types of lessons as well as BIMM’s famous Masterclasses); the fully equipped Mac labs, (where Music Production students have classes and which you can use for class projects out-of-hours); and the tutorial room, designed for small groups and one-on-one teaching.
The college is also an Ableton Certified Training Centre, where Music Production students develop the latest industry knowledge, skills and techniques under the tuition of leading experts while using the very best audio editing software and equipment. The partnership also means that BIMM Institute Hamburg students have access to substantial education discounts on Ableton products, which could pocket them savings of up to a massive 40%.
About BIMM Institute Hamburg
BIMM Institute Hamburg itself is housed in the Feldstrasse bunker complex: the musical heart of the city. It contains a venue for live music, a large music store, several nightclubs, and office space for musicians, creatives and independent music businesses, as well as BIMM Institute Hamburg.
And, as a BIMM student, you won’t just stay put in the Feldstrasse bunker. Music Production classes often take place in nearby Chefrock Studios – a professional commercial recording studio – and rehearsals regularly happen offsite in the St. Pauli Music School by Levi’s live rehearsal space at St. Pauli Stadium, where football team FC St. Pauli trains and plays. Our regular end of Term gig takes place at Nochtspeicher.
Hamburg itself as a city is a huge draw for our students, combining a vibrant arts and music scene with an established music industry.
Rick McPhail, the guitarist and keyboardist for influential band Tocotronic, and BIMM Songwriting and Performance Lecturer, moved from America to Hamburg and is in awe of the city:
“Hamburg is a great place for aspiring musicians. There’s a whole history of rock ‘n’ roll; The Beatles started here, and there are tons of clubs in every size, as well as labels and publishers. The thing that got me excited about BIMM Institute Hamburg is there’s a lot of focus on teaching you about the industry as a whole, and I think that’s a very important thing for musicians starting out.”
BIMM Institute Hamburg College Principal, Nick Donovan, says he’s proud that the college’s launch has been so successful:
“BIMM Institute Hamburg has become a central location in the Hamburg music community. It’s been amazing watching our students explore their creativity using our state-of-the-art equipment. And I’ve loved seeing them become part of the Hamburg music scene – simply by collaborating, networking and performing with their fellow students.”
