Expand Your Global Network by Studying at BIMM
Here at BIMM, we’re thrilled to be able to announce that from October 2017 onwards, BIMM students will potentially be able to complete their music degrees across two BIMM colleges, with the option to study in two of the following musical cities: London, Berlin, Brighton, Manchester, Bristol or Birmingham.
Students will be able to begin their studies at one BIMM college, before transferring to another BIMM college for their second year, and then deciding whether they remain in their new city for their third year or, instead, return to their original ‘home’ college.
This amazing benefit has come about because, for the first time, all BIMM degrees in these cities will be validated by the prestigious University of Sussex, meaning courses and classes will be totally seamless across all six European cities. Ranked the 7th best UK university for graduate prospects in 2017 by The Guardian, the 18th best university in the UK in 2017 by The Complete University Guide and The Times and The Sunday Times’ Good University Guide, and 149th in the World University Rankings by The Times Higher Education supplement, the University of Sussex has a long history of academic success. At BIMM, we’re proud to be strengthening our already close relationship with them in this exciting new venture.
BIMM is the only music college of its kind to offer this incredible music study exchange and it’s a truly unique opportunity for future BIMM students. No other UK music institution has the range of different college locations that BIMM does – both within the UK or across Europe – meaning no one else will be able to offer their students the chance to seamlessly undertake studies across multiple European locations.
The sites of BIMM colleges are all carefully chosen in cities where music matters most, and BIMM students benefit enormously from the strong musical history, diverse musical styles and current music scene buzz of BIMM cities including London, Berlin, Brighton, Manchester and Bristol, as well as our latest upcoming offering – Birmingham, opening in October 2017. Whether studying at one of our UK locations, or in Berlin, all our classes are taught in English, so you don’t need to worry if your German could do with some improvement!
Being able to study across multiple BIMM locations will mean the exposure you’ll get to the international music scene, and the subsequent industry contacts and musical networking opportunities you’ll gain in each city, will be second to none. Here are just four reasons why undertaking a music degree with BIMM and studying in different cities makes complete sense to your future music career:
- Networking – being able to build up your musical network in multiple cities will lead to an enviable contact database, giving bands, artists, songwriters, producers, music journalists and music business entrepreneurs a solid base to build a fan base or launch their career.
- Experience – meeting different kinds of people in different cities will broaden your life perspective, and you’ll learn how to communicate varied types of subject matter for creative output.
- Variety – different cities generate varied musical styles and have their own unique music scenes, so if you want a breadth of knowledge across the musical spectrum, then studying in multiple cities is a must.
- Initiative – being a part of the music scenes of different cities will make you realise that things are done differently depending where you are. You’ll have hands-on access to a diverse range of venues, events and business ideas, which will broaden your knowledge of the wider music industry.
Just imagine how your future music industry career prospects could benefit from such truly global beginnings!
