Everything Everything Masterclass
Local lads & Mercury nominated British art rock band Everything Everything turned up at BIMM Manchester for the first of a whole host of exclusive Masterclasses from leading artists that have been lined up over the coming months.
With members originally from Northumberland, Kent and Guernsey, but now residing in Manchester, the band began their career surrounded by a huge amount of buzz as they were featured on the ‘BBC Sound Of’ longlist in 2010. Their debut album ‘Man Alive’ was nominated for the Mercury Prize in 2011, and they were crowned The Times Breakthrough Act at the South Bank Sky Arts Awards that same year.
They have since firmly cemented their place in the UK music scene, releasing two critically-acclaimed and successful albums (‘Man Alive’ reached No. 17 and ‘Arc’ No.5 in the UK album charts). They’ve also supported Muse and Snow Patrol on tour, and have received plenty of ongoing praise for their unique, groundbreaking alternative rock sound.
John Higgs (vocals), Mike Spearman (drums) and Jeremy Pritchard (bass) answered questions from BIMM students and discussed why they think Manchester is the easiest city in the world to be a band in. The boys advised students to take full advantage of the first-rate facilities they have access to at BIMM and also talked about not having to follow the crowd to be a success in the music industry – their own story proving there’s definitely plenty of room out there for creative musicians and songwriters alike.
