Whether it’s festivals, parties, sound tech, corporate events, gig promotion or tour management – the potential career paths for Event Management graduates are as numerous as they are varied. Here are a handful of our recent masterclass guests whose passion for events has resulted in successful careers.

Michael Eavis – Festival guru
Live music events don’t get much bigger than Glastonbury festival, which is why we were honoured to host its co-founder, Michael Eavis, for a recent masterclass at BIMM Brighton.
Michael regaled students of all disciplines with insider info on what it’s like to manage one of the largest festivals in the world – addressing important issues such as sustainability, artist bookings, technical logistics and much more. You can read the full story of Michael’s visit, here.
George Davidson – Tour Manager
George has been a Tour Manager (TM) for nearly 20 years, with a level of experience that spans all event sizes from clubs to stadiums. He is currently the TM for Grammy Award-winning Swedish metal band Ghost, whose success has seen them become a musical force to be reckoned with.
Prior to this role, George TM’d for other high profile alternative and metal acts including Mastodon, Bullet For My Valentine and Of Mice & Men.
During his recent Careers Hub workshop, George lifted the veil on his varied experiences as a Tour Manager, offering candid anecdotes and insider tips on the often multi-faceted and unpredictable nature of the job itself.
Andy Inglis – Entrepreneur
Andy has had an incredibly interesting career within the music industry since the early nineties. Starting out as a DJ and rave promoter in his homeland of Scotland, he then got involved in artist management before working within a number of small independent record labels.
Andy then made the move to London to become the Live & Regional Editor of the nationally-distributed Fly Magazine, before co-founding the award-winning live music venue the Luminaire.
He also worked as a Booking Agent for Quart – one of Norway’s biggest and oldest music festivals – and spent two years travelling the world with post-punk quartet Savages and Mercury Prize-nominated artist East India Youth as the group’s TM.
Today, Andy heads up his own artist management company 5000mgmt, with a roster of acts including Tom Rogerson, John Uren, Novo Amor, Ed Tullett and Hailaker.
Andy’s masterclass at BIMM Brighton gave our students a valuable glimpse into his world, including how to balance a varied career spanning events, tour management and much more.
Tre Stead – Tour Manager
Theresa ‘Tre’ Stead has been working in the live music industry for over a decade. She has worked worldwide with high profile acts such as Django Django, Mystery Jets, White Denim, Albert Hammond Jr, Jessie Ware and Take That.
She advised students on the ups and downs of her profession, including working alongside some of the biggest names in the industry.
Most recently, Stead has been operating as Tour Manager for Father John Misty and Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls, as well as winning the internationally recognised prize of ‘Tour Manager Of The Year’ at the Live UK Business Awards.
Chris Cowey – Director
We were extremely fortunate to have welcomed music and television industry veteran Chris Cowey to BIMM Brighton recently. Chris has been the directorial driving force behind hit TV shows such as the Tube and Top Of The Pops, as well as televised coverage of the BRIT Awards and Glastonbury Festival.
Chris’ Masterclass was the perfect example of how certain careers can simultaneously straddle dual sectors of Music Business and Event Management.
