Brighton alumna Mimi Webb scores top ten hit
Success in music is difficult to quantify, but nothing quite solidifies the triumph of a single than securing a chart position. Mimi Webb has done just that with her latest single, ‘Good Without’. The single is currently sitting in 8th position, and we hope it can climb even higher!
With only four singles out, Mimi has done amazingly well in her career so far. Her debut single, ‘Before I Go’, was used by one of the biggest TikTok influencers on the planet, Charli D’Amelio, who shared the song with her 111.3 million followers. Since then, Webb has signed with Epic Records, gathered an immense 85 million Spotify streams, radio play worldwide, a live performance on The Ellen Show, and most recently, a top 10 chart position in the UK Singles Chart.
Mimi performed her latest single on The Ellen Show with a full live band that included BIMM Institute London Guitar graduate Isabel Torres. You can watch the performance below.
Mimi describes her sound as “very big, really emotional music”, which makes sense when looking at the musicians that she cites as her biggest influences: Amy Winehouse, Adele, Sam Smith, and Emeli Sande. This sense of big emotion shows in her songs; there’s a sense of defiance in her music, whilst being catchy and moody all at once.
Her vocal style suits her euphoric ballads perfectly. ‘Before I Go’ is no different with her powerful vocals taking over. The track was co-written by BIMM Institute Brighton songwriting alumnus Sam Merrifield, who has written toplines for Westlife, Gorgon City, James Capaldi, and loads more.
Mimi is currently working on her debut EP, due for release this year.
Amazing stuff Mimi, keep up the good work! You can check out more of our success stories here.
