BIMM Students Set For 2000trees
The English countryside reigns supreme when it comes to festivals, and few summer gatherings are as loved by new and alternative music fans as 2000trees. At the Drive-In, Twin Atlantic and Enter Shikari are set to headline the Cheltenham bash when it returns to Upcote Farm from 12th-14th July, with Beans on Toast, Demob Happy, H09909, Blood Red Shoes, Turbowolf also on the jam-packed bill. In addition to this fantastic line-up you will find a hand-picked line-up of 15 young and hungry bands and artists from across our BIMM colleges.
The unique collaboration between BIMM Bristol, BIMM London and BIMM Brighton brings together the acts we’re tipping for great successes in 2018. In return, revellers to the award-winning independent festival can expect a soundclash of genres and styles from the likes of Bristol’s Luke Marshall Black, whose laid-back and soulful folk ballads earn comparisons to Ben Howard. If acoustic troubadours are your thing, don’t miss BIMM 18-year-old Abbie Piper of BIMM London, who heads to 2000trees on the back of several major festival appearances, including Boardmasters and Tunes in the Dunes. There was also the matter of last year’s support slot with Seasick Steve.
Of course, if brooding rock’n’roll is more your thing, you won’t want to stray too far from Hush Mozey’s Saturday set. The BIMM Bristol outfit have proved time and time again why they’re a favourite among mosh-happy crowds – a visceral assault of distortion, noise and riffs await you. Elsewhere, Brighton’s Dottie joins Marius Bear and Elijah Miller as our trio of opening acts. Her lightning-fast ramblings and break-neck lyricism have earnt her a rapidly expanding fan base, which is only getting bigger following the release of her debut single Mind Ramblings – listen here.
Also flying the flag for BIMM on the Forest Sessions stage, which has become our second summer home in recent years, will be the genre-bending, musical stylings of Mauwe (Bristol), Karim (London), La Lune (Brighton), Caleb Harris (Brighton), James Humphrys (Bristol), Andy Merritt (Bristol), Luvia (Brighton) and Nathalie Nedeljkovic (Brighton), all of whom have been generating much hype and attention among tastemakers.
What also makes 2000trees so special is that it gives our students the chance to play alongside a host of huge acts who often head to the Forest Sessions stage for stripped-back, acoustic sets. You never know who is going to turn up, which is both exciting and valuable for any up and coming artist. This collaborative spirit is something we pride ourselves on at BIMM and 2000trees is a perfect example.
You can catch each of our acts across the three-day outing, with set times and further details on the way. Of course, each will have a tough act to follow, as previous years have seen the likes of Harvey Causon, Chloe Leigh & The Willow Trio and Celine Love. Nevertheless, the calibre of talent coming through BIMM right now is a telling sign that this year’s festival will exceed expectations.
2000trees is an undisputed BIMM favourite when it comes to festivals. It’s where former BIMM Bristol student George Ezra played before going on to become a chart-topping and critically-acclaimed musician. We’re expecting this year to provide a similar launchpad for these talented newcomers.
