BIMM London hosts AI music masterclass in collaboration with RoEx
BIMM London recently welcomed RoEx, an innovative company at the forefront of AI tools for mixing and mastering music, for an exclusive masterclass. This partnership with RoEx is a key element of BIMM’s AI Labs initiative, which focuses on researching, exploring and engaging with rapidly evolving AI technologies in the music industry.
RoEx specialises in AI-driven tools for multi-track mixing and mastering, allowing creators to remove a lot of the production legwork whilst still retaining their creative integrity. One of their most popular tools, ‘Mix Check Studio’, was one of Music Radar’s most innovative products of 2023, and RoEx have now analysed over one million tracks with their software.
The on-campus masterclass provided an opportunity for Dr. David Ronan, founder of RoEx, and research engineer Aggela Mourgela to demonstrate their software, giving BIMM students a glimpse of the range of tools available.
One key theme discussed was RoEx’s ongoing efforts to integrate their Automix platform with DAWs, so that creators can review and adjust their AI-driven mix adjustments. This process will allow users to refine their mixes while prioritising artistic vision.
As AI continues to dominate discussions about the future of the creative industries, a highlight of the masterclass was the Q&A session, in which students could ask questions and explore ways to integrate AI into their creative workflows rather than compete with it.
