BIMM Dublin graduation Ceremony with Hozier
‘Trust your gut’ was Hozier’s advice to our outgoing Class of 2017 at our recent BIMM Dublin graduation event.
The chart-topping superstar, our esteemed guest of honour, joined staff and loved ones at the iconic Tivoli Theatre on Francis Street to wave a fond farewell to our talented graduates, before handing out each degree. He urged students:
“So much of this is about your gut. Trust your gut in your writing, trust your gut in your performing, in the people you work with… trust your gut in the trains that you’ll hop on and the opportunities you’ll turn down.”
This year’s ceremony was made even more special by the inclusion of our first-ever BA (Hons) Music Production students, who have left BIMM with the skills and expertise needed to progress in their journeys.
On top of this, we saw rousing performances from Dublin band Little Green Cars and some of BIMM’s most talented musicians, including LE BOOM and The Fontaines – both of whom made quite the impression on Hozier!
BIMM Dublin’s Executive Principal, Dara Kilkenny, also gave a heartfelt speech, before congratulating our students on their incredible achievement. She said:
“Your career starts when you arrive at BIMM. Evolve creatively and as humans and continue to be really kind and generous to each other because that’s the thing that I think really sets our students apart.”
There was even an opportunity to celebrate one of BIMM Dublin’s most enterprising students, with the annual Entrepreneurial Award. Alex Lai took home the prestigious accolade for his Ex Oh Promotions company.
Alex, who is currently based in Fibber Magees is expanding his business to multiple venues in Dublin. After receiving the reward, he said:
“Just be patient and really follow your dreams.”
This year’s BIMM Dublin graduation did not disappoint and provided a fantastic – though emotional – opportunity to say goodbye to another class of talented individuals, all of whom have a promising career ahead of them.
