BIMM Berlin partners with Trixx Studios
Here at BIMM Berlin, we’re proud to announce that we’ll be teaming up with Berlin’s internationally renowned TRIXX Studios as part of our new Music Production degree course, starting in September/October this year.
TRIXX Studios is based in Kreuzberg, at the heart of Berlin’s creative community. Since 1985, the studio has been responsible for recording, mixing and producing albums from a wide range of international artists, including Bryan Ferry, Fleetwood Mac, Wu-Tang Clan, Nicki Minaj, Grandmaster Flash, Dave Gahan and Razorlight, as well as many local bands who’ve contributed to Berlin’s musical heritage, such as Rammstein, Andreas Bourani, Sido, and more. TRIXX Studios has also produced many film and television soundtracks, as well as radio and television advertisements, and the studio is fully equipped with an extensive collection of both state-of-the-art and vintage equipment.
BA (Hons) degrees in Electronic Music Production and Music and Sound Production at BIMM Berlin are specialist programmes designed for those wishing to pursue a career in a range of music industry roles, such as producer, sound engineer, audio technician, creative artist and more. The aim of the courses is to nurture creative flair while developing a skill-set as a music producer across a wide range of contexts, including traditional studio and live recording, songwriting, live sound and music for moving image. Students study the context of contemporary music and the industry that supports it, as well as learning personal, project management and business skills.
The partnership between BIMM and TRIXX Studios will be an incredible opportunity for BIMM Music Production students to gain hands-on experience in a working studio, while being taught by award-winning producers who’ve worked with some of the biggest names in music. So far, the BIMM Berlin Music Production tutor faculty includes US musician and The Strokes’ producer, Gordon Raphael; producer Michael Zimmerling, who’s worked with artists including David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Depeche Mode, Simply Red, David Sylvian and Einsturzende Neubauten; and Pete Smith who started his career in 1979 as an engineer at Utopia Studios and went on to win a Grammy Award for Sting’s ‘Dream of the Blue Turtles (Live)’ album.
