Simon Beddoe
Music Business and Event Management Lecturer
Simon Beddoe is a trumpet/flugel horn player, composer, arranger and lecturer. He studied jazz at the Leeds College of Music. Simon currently lectures at Leeds Conservatoire and BIMM Bristol.
Simon, or ‘Bobby’ as many call him, has received international acclaim for his work with groundbreaking electronica group Submotion Orchestra for whom he composes and plays brass. Submotion Orchestra have recently celebrated 10 years of making music having recorded 5 EP’s and 6 albums for various record labels including Ninja Tune and Circus Records.
Simon has worked with many critically acclaimed groups and artists. He has toured professionally with ensembles throughout the world and has played all the major UK festivals and venues.
As a composer Simon has written and arranged on every Submotion Orchestra release as well as on-going work with library music specialists Endomel Shine Group. He has also worked collaboratively with artists and organisations including Incognito and The West Yorkshire Playhouse. His music has been synced on a number of TV programmes and adverts ranging from Audi to The Great British Bake Off. He has co-written 7 sample packs for sample library companies Novation, Samplephonics and Loopmasters.
Simon is passionate about promoting and sharing great music. He was a founding member of Leeds Improvised Music Association, events manager at The Wardrobe and a promoter rep for companies including Soundcrash and AGMP.
