Richard Watson
Associate Lecturer *
Richard works as an Artist Development Tutor and Lead Lecturer across both Diploma and Degree courses at BIMM Birmingham, specialising in guitar.
He is a touring and studio guitarist with a portfolio of work for major labels, independent artists and theatre productions, including Becky Hill (Parlophone Records), Beth Ditto (Columbia Records), Oti Mabuse (Strictly Come Dancing), Emma Blackery, The Wandering Hearts, The Adamski Kid, Remember Monday (The Voice UK), Jon Moses (ITV’s ‘Superstar’), Megan Bird, Erika Footman (MIKA), DROWND and Tim Prottey-Jones.
Television and streamed performances include Later… with Jools Holland, MTV Brand New, MTV Push Helsinki, Patreon, TuneCore, Under The Apple Tree with Whispering Bob Harris, The Xtra Factor and Friday Download. Touring encompasses major UK, European and East Asian venues, including Hong Kong Stadium.
Current projects include Black Sky Research featuring Mikey Chapman of Mallory Knox (with Jason Bowld of Bullet For My Valentine playing the drums on the One EP), DROWND, Emma Blackery and, most recently, as the touring guitarist for Oti Mabuse’s (Strictly Come Dancing) I Am Here UK Tour.
He is also a guitar content creator on both Patreon and YouTube.
