Course Leader, Music Business
John is the Course Leader for Music Business in Birmingham. As a musician john toured the world with Edward II who, after signing deals with Cooking Vinyl, Zomba Records, The Big Chill and BMG Publishing, self-managed their own label and publishing affairs. The band played in 40 + territories worldwide including several tours of the U.S as well as Tours of India, Canada and Brazil. They headlined Glastonbury’s Avalon stage for 5 consecutive years and were even invited to perform at The Evis family’s private festival in Pilton. As a session musician John has appeared at festivals around the world and has multiple album/ performance credits to his name including Corrine Bailey Rae, Northern Uproar, Harry Connick Jnr, The Oysterband and many more….
On the conclusion of Edward II John moved to music education as well as artist management and now manages a roster of 4 artists alongside his work at BIMM. He regularly consults with labels and publishers on business development and has lectured widely in Music Business (University of Westminster, De Montfort University, Huddersfield University and RNCM). John has worked for AIM, UD Music, UK Music, CC Skills and DCMS as a consultant has developed music degrees for numerous universities. As course leader he brings specialisms in Business Planning and development as well as Artist Management and Label Management.
