Johan Englund
Senior Lecturer, Production
Johan Englund is a music producer and educator based in East Sussex and London. Before combining studio life with education in 2005, he’d worked in the music industry since the early 90s. Johan teaches the Game Sound and Music module at BIMM Music Institute London and has been actively involved with game audio since 2016. He’s an expert in middlewares like FMOD and Wwise, as well as technical sound design. He also has knowledge of functional game audio programming (C#/Java). He is studying for an MSc in Sound Design with a focus on Sonification at Edinburgh Napier University and is also pursuing an Advance HE Fellowship.
He’s written and recorded with members of The Vaccines, Daughter and the George Ezra band and has also worked with European acts such as Hinds and Icelandic act Mammút, to name a few. As an in-house Producer for EMI Publishing, Johan has worked with artists ranging from Busted and Lulu and The Lampshades to So-Solid Crew and Salaam Remi. Working with various genres and talent, Johan is a reputable name in the production world.
As an educator, he has taught and written courses in music production for undergraduate and postgraduate courses for several UK institutions such as UWL, City University, Tileyard Education, ICMP, and Music Hackspace, among others.
