Harald Kisiedu

Harald Kisiedu is a historical musicologist with a doctorate from Columbia University. He is the author of European Echoes: Jazz Experimentalism in Germany, 1950-1975. His research focuses on jazz as a global phenomenon and music of the African diaspora.
Harald also holds graduate degrees in political science and German language and literature from the University of Hamburg. Between 2015 and 2017, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the International Institute for Critical Studies in Improvisation at the University of Guelph and at the Memorial University of Newfoundland.
He is a saxophonist and has performed with Branford Marsalis, George Lewis, Henry Grimes, and Champion Jack Dupree. Harald has made recordings with the NY-based band Burnt Sugar. He currently teaches Cultural Perspectives at BIMM Hamburg.
