Dan Johnson
Lecturer, Performance in Context & Creative Processes *
Dan currently teaches Performance in Context & Creative Processes as well as being a co-author and facilitator of the Musical Responses & Collaborative Experiments (MRCE) module at Bimm Bristol.
An active participant in the Bristol DIY alternative/underground scene, he is known for organising a range of DIY events, including the infamous Toilet Fest, and more recently some very limited capacity, site-specific, covid-safe outdoor performances.
Dan has been a popular house drummer at multiple venues in Bristol, holding several long-term residencies from Funk & Hip Hop to the Experimental & Avant-Garde. He has toured the UK & Europe extensively including dates at Ronnie Scott's, the Jazz Cafe, Centrum Kultury Lublinie, and Kulturhaus Karlstorbanhnhoff.
In addition to his countless collaborations he is a keen solo artist intent on pushing the boundaries of improvisation, sound & rhythm.
