Chris Tye

Chris Tye teaches Songwriting and Production at BIMM Institute Birmingham. He is an accomplished performer and songwriter as well as a media composer.

Chris has released a string of well-received solo albums including 2014’s 'The Paper Grenade' and 2017’s ‘Stronger in Numbers’ achieving BBC Radio 2 airplay on both of these projects.

Over the years Chris has toured with the likes of Amy Winehouse, Ben Howard and Bic Runga and worked with the countries best producers whose credits include Ed Sheeran, The Libertines and Lucy Rose. He recently composed and recorded music for award winning independent documentary 'Balancé' which screened at the American Film Institute documentary festival, and his first feature film score for BFI’s critically acclaimed ‘Irene’s Ghost’ which screened across the UK in 2019, airing the following year on Sky TV.

Chris has also released a string of successful sync music recordings for Warner Chappell and Universal Music and worked directly with clients including Bowers & Wilkins and RSA Films.
