Ann Marie Shields is a Careers Manager for Music at BIMM Music Institute Dublin. She established and developed the BA4 Professional Development and BA3 Music Publishing modules over 7 years. She launched and production manages BIMM’s annual Dublin 8 BIMM Live Music Festival and secured several scholarship awards including the RTE2fm Diploma in Music and Audio Production Scholarship, Kevin Shields BA (Hons) in Production Scholarship, Sinead O’Connor BA (Hons) Commercial Modern Music Scholarship, Spotify BA (Hons) Music Business Scholarship and the current IMRO Diploma in Music Business Scholarship. Ann Marie holds a BA (Hons) degree in Psychology (UCD) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Higher and Music Education (University of Middlesex).
Ann Marie managed the production of My Bloody Valentine’s classic album ‘loveless’ (MOJO award winner). She tour-managed the band’s international tours and was instrumental in the surprise D2C release of their 2013 album ‘m b v’ (Uncut’s No 1 album of the year) selling vinyl and studio-quality WAVs in 107 countries in one night. She continues to act as a business consultant for the band.
Shields also tour-managed Dinosaur Jr, Martina Topley-Bird (Tricky), The Telescopes and Laika, and did European PR for Mercury Rev’s album ‘Boces’. Her long career includes a 6-year stint as A&R manager for Reprise Records where she managed her own label imprint, Morpheus Records, releasing records by an eclectic mix of artists including La Honda (platinum artist Rumer’s debut); hip hop/reggae artist MAD LION, and ICE featuring Kevin Martin (The Bug), Blixa Bargeld (The Bad Seeds) and Alec Empire (Atari Teenage Riot).
Ann Marie managed producer Rob Ellis (PJ Harvey/Marianne Faithful), bands Rollerskate Skinny, Laika, and Charlotte Hatherley (ASH/Bat for Lashes) with whom she set up and managed international label Little Sister Records, and she coordinated recording sessions for Marianne Faithful’s ‘Beyond the Poison’.
She is a film music supervisor, and credits include Joe Meek biopic ‘Telstar’, Raindance winner ‘Mr. In-Between’, Savannah winner ‘The Kid’, Sean Bean thriller ‘Cleanskin’, ‘Blue Iguana’ featuring Oscar winner Sam Rockwell, and Hadi Hajaig’s ‘Don’t Leave Me’.
In 2018 Ann Marie launched her own AMS Records label and management service, with releases from Side 4 Collective, SELK, Shelley Bukspan, The Creators, Moon Looks On, Graham Sweeney and Vernon Jane.
Ann Marie represents Irish independent record labels on the steering group for the new Association of Independent Music Ireland and is a Director of Minding Creative Minds, a 24/7 wellbeing support programme for the Irish music sector.
