Senior Lecturer, Performance In Context *
Andy is a songwriter, arranger, guitarist, bass player and PG Cert Ed qualified Music teacher.
Under the guise of Cursor Major, his self-produced brand of new wave power pop has been championed by the likes of BBC6 Music ('recommends', 'Steve Lamacq', 'The Tom Robinson Show', ‘Introducing’) and The Guardian ('Band Of The Day). The project has also found him collaborating with Kieron Pepper (Radiophonic Workshop) and TJ Allen (Bat For Lashes) and playing live with members of Tax The Heat (Antonio Angotti & JP Jacyshyn).
As the guitarist in his previous band The Crimea, he signed a record deal with Warner Bros U.S & the U.K, entered the UK Top 40 and appeared on Top Of The Pops. The band's second album found a spot on Q Magazine's ‘Top 5 Moments That Changed History’ list. During this era, Andy toured with bands such as Snow Patrol, Keane, The Stereophonics, Primal Scream, The Killers, Echo & The Bunnymen, Johnny Marr, Regina Spektor, Billy Corgan, Modest Mouse, Ash, Dashboard Confessional, The Get Up Kids, as well as playing major festivals such as Leeds & Reading, V Festival, T in the Park and Glastonbury.
