Steven McCann
Session Musician
Steven is a prolific musician on the Dublin scene and beyond, performing as part of TooFools and promoting his own regular live music event known as WeBloom.
Steven studied BA (Hons) in Commercial Musicianship – Guitar at BIMM Dublin and decided to focus on optional Music Production modules in his 3rd and 4th year. He completed the course in 2016 and even gave a speech during the graduation ceremony to the approval of Bob Geldof, KBE, who presented him with his Degree certificate.
Since graduating, Steven has been incredibly busy. He is one half of TooFools with fellow graduate Lorcán O’Dwyer. Together they produce, mix and record their own original music before handing it over to their amazing band of session musicians to perform live.
Alongside these efforts, Steven is also an incredibly talented session player in his own right, and has gigged with the likes of Phil Coulter, Ralph Rolle (Chic), Paul Noonan (Bell X1), Lisa Hannigan, Richie Egan (Jape), Bronagh Gallagher, James Vincent McMorrow, Midge Ure (Ultravox & Thin Lizzy), Johnny Logan, Booka Brass and many more.
He also promotes his own regular live music event called WeBloom and has toured Europe as the guitarist with various stage shows, including The Definitive Rat Pack, We’ve Only Just Begun (The Karen Carpenter Story), 24 Hours From Tulsa and various others.
McCann’s latest venture, Rvstless, is an experimental R&B project that was created during lockdown. The first single off the tape, Wanna Be Free, is an ode to Irish lockdown restrictions.
