Sophie Lloyd
Artist and Guitarist
Sophie Lloyd received first-class honours for a BMus in Popular Music Performance at BIMM Music Institute London. Her obsession with rock and metal music from a young age led to her picking up the guitar at age nine.
Citing early influences such as Iron Maiden, Black Label Society and Pantera, Sophie blends a heavy and technical style with the expression and feeling of blues guitarists such as Rory Gallagher and Joe Bonamassa. During her time at BIMM, she was taught to play in various styles. This is noticeable in her sound, which includes elements of jazz, country and gospel. Her degree in music also helped her achieve a thorough understanding of music theory and fretboard knowledge.
Sophie released her first EP Delusions in 2018, recorded and produced with Jason Wilson of Stakeout Studios. It surpassed her expectations with the music video for her title song ‘Delusions’, gaining millions of streams.
Sophie is reaching an impressive audience with millions of followers across YouTube and Spotify. Her content consists of original guitar music videos, covers, shred medleys, brand collaborations, equipment reviews and her recent discussions of dealing with performance anxiety.
She is now Machine Gun Kelly’s tour as his guitarist, constantly touring sell out shows including the iconic Madison Square Garden and Wembley Arena.
Her debut album Imposter Syndrome was released in 2023 and features Trivium’s Matt Heafy. She has a debut headline show planned at Camden Assembly on October 17, 2024.
