Jack Childs
Freelance Sound Technician
Jack is a freelance live sound technician who’s skills at the mixing console have taken him all over Europe with the likes of Architects, The Quemists, Mallory Knox, Death From Above 1979, Foxes and Black Peaks.
Jack took his first steps into the industry after completing a course in Live Sound at BIMM Brighton. Since then, his touring lifestyle has lead to creating front of house mixes at Download Festival, Wireless, Reading & Leeds and the SSE Arena, Wembley.
Most recently, Jack has been working with up and coming progressive rockers Black Peaks. When he’s not touring with them, he keeps himself busy working as front-of-house/monitor engineer at Concorde 2, Brighton – One of the city’s most beloved live venues.
Here, Jack sums up his experience at BIMM and details how it’s helped get him where he is today.
“BIMM provided me with a lot of the key skills I needed when starting out. Whilst studying, I was heavily encouraged to get out into the city and find work, be it paid or just for learning experience. While on the course I learned that it wasn’t just technical skill that I needed to become a successful sound engineer, but how to look after myself as a freelancer, how to network and create business for myself.”
