Ed Cox
Social Media Manager
When Edward started his BA (Hons) in Professional Musicianship (Drums) at BIMM Brighton, his ambition was to be a session drummer. While he really enjoyed studying the drums, it was his Music Business modules that really fired him up!
He instantly took advantage of BIMM’s celebrated ‘connectivity’ – making friends, networking, collaborating with fellow students and really getting himself out there. He worked hard to make the most of life at BIMM outside of the classroom by learning to be a “jack of all trades” and volunteering for lots of different collaborative roles – some of which were, as a drummer, outside of his comfort zone.
When Ed graduated in 2009, he took the Music Business skills he’d learnt in lessons, mixed them with the social qualities he’d gained outside of class and set about searching for the perfect business-orientated role in the music industry. And that’s when he landed a job with one of the most successful songwriter/producers in UK chart history – Mike Stock. As part of the unstoppable 1980s force that was Stock Aiken Waterman (SAW), Mike was instrumental in launching the music careers of Kylie Minogue, Rick Astley, Bananarama, Jason Donovan, Mel & Kim, Dead or Alive and Sinitta, among many others.
Edward became label manager at Mike Stock Music and S4K Records, where he has worked with an abundance of industry greats from Paul McCartney to Cliff Richard. Ed is extremely grateful for the tuition he received and connections he made at BIMM, saying: “I recognise that none of this would have possible without the help and teaching of BIMM. I had an amazing time there.”
Most recently, Ed became the Managing Director at Company 10, a digital marketing and advertising agency that specialises in the education sector. Here, Edward applies his experience in digital marketing and advertising to help schools improve and grow.
