Aimie Mallon
Artist
BIMM Music Institute Dublin drum graduate Aimie Mallon supplied energetic rhythms for Dublin based Electro-duo, LE BOOM.
LE BOOM’s up-tempo dance grooves, breaks, bouncy bass synths, and tastefully layered guitars led them to be compared to artists such as Caribou, LCD Soundsystem, Hot Chip, Empire of the Sun, and Metronomy. They made an incredible impact throughout their native Ireland as well as beyond into clubs, live music venues, and festivals throughout the UK, Europe, and the US on tour.
The pair carved their niche within the city’s rich live music scene, attracting high praise from tastemakers and critics such as PopMatters, EARMILK, The Sunday Times, Nialler9, Highsnobiety, and State Magazine, who once described the duo as “Possibly the best live electronic act to come out of Ireland.”
During their time, they racked up over two million online streams, over 125,000 YouTube views and received avid support from Irish and US radio broadcasters. Their music has been included on Spotify’s New Music Friday, Hot New Bands, and New Pop Revolution playlists. It has also been featured in televised syncs for Vodafone, St Patrick’s Festival, Absolut Vodka, Made in Chelsea, and Fáilte Ireland. All incredible feats for an unsigned act!
Previous appearances at Primavera, Longitude, Body & Soul, and Electric Picnic have helped to cement this, along with a show-stopping performance at Brighton’s Great Escape Festival 2019 as part of BIMM’s official showcase.
Johnny Boyle, Head of Drums at BIMM Dublin, remembers Aimie’s time at the college well.
“Aimie made an incredible impression from day one at BIMM. She embodies one of the most important traits in being a successful musician, and that’s enthusiasm. She has an incredible amount of positive energy, which contributed to a great atmosphere in classes.”
Mallon reflected on her time at the college, saying: “BIMM has helped me in every area of my professional life; Performance, creativity, helping me find my original sound on the kit, knowledge, know-how in the music business, publishing, studio recording, music theory, composition and connections, connections, connections!”
Amie has since moved on from LE BOOM, and we wish her all the success in the world!
