School Liaison and Outreach
Activities and Resources for Schools and Colleges
At BIMM Music Institute, we aim to shape the future of the music industry. We understand that doing this starts with providing students with all the information and support they need to make the right decisions for their future study, training and careers in music. That’s why our Schools and Outreach team, work year-round with schools, colleges and community organisations to provide support to teachers, career advisors and students.
Our activities aim to support schools with music curriculums, meeting Gabsy Benchmarks as part of careers provision, as well as providing insight into studying and student life at BIMM Music Institute.
See below for more information on the activities we offer and how to book.
Please note: Due to resource our activity provision is mainly aimed at post-16 at the moment. We offer some activities for Years 9-11 in a limited number of schools where there is evidence of a large number of applications to creative industry university courses from their linked post 16 provider.

As part of our School Tours, we provide various workshops and talks to give students all the necessary information to make an informed decision about their futures.
We aim all workshops at students aged 16-18 interested in a career in the creative industries. You can decide which talks and workshops you would like us to run on the day. We run these live and exclusively for your students at a date and time of your choice.
Our talks and workshops include:
Careers in the creative industries
This presentation details the various opportunities and career pathways available in the creative industries and how they work together. There’s also a Q&A session and an exclusive live performance from a BIMM artist.
Event management talks
Students will get the chance to meet industry professionals who currently work at some of the UK’s biggest festivals and in other behind-the-scenes areas. This talk gives students the chance to explore the potential careers they may not have ever known existed.
Songwriting workshop
For this workshop, we walk through a song and look at the different skills a songwriter can use to create a quality piece of music. This includes everything from composition to lyric crafting. A live Q&A will follow the workshop.
From the studio to the stage
This masterclass shows your students how to mix and master while performing live. This allows them to take control over their own audio effects to achieve a studio-quality performance.
Music production
We can also host a range of music production workshops, such as:
- Creating hooks with samples
- Found sounds
- Mixing in the box
